Diversity Your Network @
The Jelly Social

Think of the 10 people in your professional network that you interact with most... Do at least 5 of them look the same? Then it's time to bring more diversity into your network. We challenge you to bring more people that don't look like you into your professional network. Here are a few things to help you get started:

1

Start with your 'why'

Before you start, make sure you’re diversifying your network for the right reasons. Diversity efforts are in no way about charity or pity – it’s about valuing and respecting everyone as equal contributors. Which is exactly how you would like to be treated 🙂

2

Build Authentic Relationships

Approach new people from a perspective of interest and wanting to learn more about them and their careers. If you don’t genuinely care, then don’t do it! Ultimately, the goal is to forge authentic relationships with new people of all backgrounds.

3

Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

If you feel uncomfortable, then that means you’re doing it right! Connecting with people with different backgrounds then yourself is supposed to be a bit challenging – but it presents a great opportunity to find commonality. No matter how different they may seem, there is always a common thread that connects you both.

Here are some great opportunities to connect with diverse professionals in your company and the community!

The Jelly Social: BIPOC & Ally Networking

The Jelly Social is a monthly networking event that connects you with our community of BIPOC and Ally professionals from all across North America.
